Google's New Contact Lens

As I said earlier, if there were to be any breaking news or anything that really struck my interest, I would share it with you. The first of these articles has appeared in the category of "wearable tech".

On Thursday, January 16th, Google unveiled it's Smart Contact Lens Project, stating that it will be used in association with the FDA to help people with diabetes. Over the past few years, scientists have been trying to find a better way to monitor glucose levels, as opposed to taking blood. They have found that a good way to do this is through tears. The problem with this, however, is that its hard to just take a sample of your tears. That's where the contacts come in.

The plan is that these contacts would be able to, by placing glucose sensors and other components between two lenses, read glucose levels in your tears. Google claimed that they are currently in the prototype stage now and hope to have them  available for testing soon.

Although it wasn't what I was hoping for when I read "Google unveils plans for Smart Contact Lens", it's still a pretty cool idea. I can't wait to see what they do next.
